rophy rapeseed is a fast growing brassica that is heat, cold and drought tolerant making it adapted to the USA and southern Canada
Best planting for the United States is August – October. Germination occurs when soil temperatures reach 65° – 70° F.
Trophy emerges quickly and produces a good fall stand compared to other varieties. This is particularly true when planted late in the fall or when seeded into straw stubble. Trophy is resistant to lodging.
Northern planting may see a shortened crop life if hard freezes are experienced. Plants will typically not survive intense summer heat or hard freezes. Note: Rape becomes more attractive to deer after a frost because the sugar content will become more concentrated.
Trophy is a canola type rape which produces large volumes of biomass with equal or higher feed values than alfalfa.
Trophy flowers in 128 days on average.

Wrens Abruzzi Rye

Developed 1953 in GA as an early winter rye with superior performance in the SE piedmont and coastal plains.

A selection of the much older Abruzzi rye.

Rye cover crop is great for controlling erosion, adding organic matter, enhancing soil life, and suppressing weeds.
Its extensive root system makes it among the best green manures for improving soil structure. It is an excellent soil renovator and pioneer crop for new fields.
Rye is very good at releasing phosphorus and potassium. It also stabilizes excess soil and manure nitrogen.
Rye and vetch together are one of the preferred cover crops for no-till tomato planting.
Rye is also good for animal grazing; it’s highly palatable and of high nutritional quality, and comes back from grazing and grows again.

Wren’s Abruzzi performs better in the warm winters of the southeast than other available varieties of rye. Rapid establishment and growth, together with weed suppression, make Wren’s Abruzzi an excellent choice for certified organic growers.

Proso millet, also called Proso, grain millet or hog millet, is grown primarily in the US for feed grain or birdseed purposes.

However, most of the world eats millet and it is becoming wildly popular in health food stores today.

Proso is a warm-season grass and is well-adapted to the warm summer temperatures.
